The Funk and My Exit.

For the past month or so I’ve been so unmotivated to mix music I thought I was done for good. I’m the kind of person that needs something to work towards and I had nothing. I love DJ’ing, but the love of the craft wasn’t enough to move me along. To add to it, I think I’m falling out of love with my original style; Break Beat. So I was trying to mix my breaks but everything sounded like shit. No matter what I was doing I wanted to delete and start over the next day. I then took a week log trip that tore me apart from my turntables. When I got home, I just didn’t care…I could have easly sold all my gear if I had a buyer. I was in a funk.

As I was leaving Break Beat in the dust I went to my back-up; Electro House. I was hoping this change would spark something in me; it didn’t. Then I looked at my files and noticed I hadn’t added any new tracks for the past 3 months. I started adding and reinsiping myself. At the same time I was approached by 2 parties to put together some mixes for them. YES! The motivation I was looking for. One is due June 9th and the other is an open invation to spin some tracks on UStream. I also set-up my own UStream channel so whenever I want to throw simething out there I can. I’m still unsure how I feel and about filming myself, but if I want to get some exposure, this is a fear I must get over.

The good news, I just finished a 2 hour practice session on the decks and I was pretty happy with what I did. I think I’m back baby, I’m back!
